Advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI) are transformative, presenting both new challenges and unique opportunities. It has the potential to solve some of the most pressing challenges in humanitarian fields.
GENAIE (Generative AI for Education)
GENAIE revolutionises content generation platform for supporting professionals, automating the creation of personalised courses, lessons, and resources.
GENAIE is used in schools, prisons, the probation service, local authorities, training provides and charities helping socially unemployed people, people on probation, people in prison, refugees, vulnerable adults, and young people in and out of education, supporting:
- Personal development to build better lives through training and education.
- Skills acquisition to unlock better employment opportunities.
- Contribution to communities.
As of 30th November 2023, the application has gained over 24,887 users and accumulated over 155,233 hours of education, training, and employment (ETE) learning.
GENAIE transforms personal development by:
- Flexibility: creating course content on any subject, incorporating gamification, simulations, and interactive activities to make learning enjoyable.
- Personalised Learning: analysing individual data and learning preferences, to create tailored learning paths, ensuring optimal learning experiences.
- Dynamic calibration: instruction difficulty and pace based on individual student progress, improving engagement.
- Accessibility tailored: for every learner, including those with special needs e.g. by providing relevant individual examples, assistive technology support, real-time transcripts and captions
GENAIE uses adversarial AI to remove malicious content, fact check, cater to curricula and ensure relevance. GENAIE technology has four different adversarial personas (or "genies") that work on content materials together. These four genies (Teacher, Student, Police and Curriculum) ensure that content is moderated and aligns with a set curriculum, covers appropriate signposted resources, and accords with students' expected levels, (vocational) interests and capabilities. The generated content is monitored and controlled for incorrect responses, misinformation, and hallucinations, avoiding blind spots and unreliable judgments.
Working in tandem, the four genies' responsibilities are as below:
- Curriculum Genie
Ensures compliance against known curricula, legislation, and regulations.
- Teacher Genie
Generates lesson plans, learning material, activities, and signposted resources.
- Student Genie
Ensures language and content are appropriate for the level expected.
- Police/Moderator Genie
Guardrails to prevent profanity, triggering language and inappropriate materials.
